Don’t litter plastic, always use dustbin: do such things make environment really clean?

Today packaged items are not only prevalent in cities but in rural remote area as well. Chips, beverages, and other packaged items have replaced Sarbat, Lassi, Aata Halwa, Litti, Namkin, Piyaw, Popcorn, fried wheat etc. One throws polythene just like anything. Thela-wala and street food vendors throw the trashes to nearby abandoned places. Householder throw trashes through windows if there is any space where nobody can see. One who throw plastic in dustbin, doesn’t mean he is doing good job. Today everyone is littering the places directly or indirectly. On environment day or on any such occasions we do cleaning campaign to make environment clean. Politicians and even prime minister do such showbaazi in Clean India Campaign. But do such activities and teachings have any impact on net production of trash? Does such showbazzi really have any impact on cleanliness? Absolutely no, it aggravates the situation more and litter somewhere some other places. You think by throwing them in dustbin have done your job. No, you have done greater sin by throwing it in dustbin as it will get transferred somewhere far distant places from yours doing havoc there. If people really care about not littering the places then they must keep all the plastic with them. One must have big store room to keep all the plastic safely sothat their coming generation will see and will better be able to visualise how much their parents cared about the environment they live in!

Impact of Inorganic Farming on the Ecosystem

I have witnessed extinctions of vultures from my village and its area. Around 20 years before, their number used to to be huge. They lived on the Peepal tree and nearby hills, just 300-500m distance away from my house. Due to their presence in very close vicinity of village, people didn’t have to travel long distance to dispose dead cattle and animals. We all know vulture feed on dead animals and hence it makes them natural scavenger. But now if cattles dies, it becomes a great headache to dispose as it stinks badly after decomposition of its body starts. So people now travels distant places and more often they throw them on river bank.

Water Crisis: Urban to Rural

In 1975, the consumption of water for human use was 3875 cu km per year. In 2000, it had reached to more than 6000 cu km per year. This indicates that world population almost would have doubled in the 25 years of span and hence the water consumption too. Now with this logic human must conserve two times more water than what to be conserved in 1975. It was startling to read the government report that water conservation in 2016-17 was less than average water conservation of last 10 years in three zones North, South and West. 

My village: Ecosystem and its upheaval

Medninagar (Palamu) is a drought prone area of Jharkhand. My village, Majhiganw, belongs to this district. It has got beautiful balanced ecosystem, surrounded by hills and agricultural land. It is exactly situated between a small river and a canal. The river is perennial as its name also suggests and canal is connected from its upstream.
